Cape Winelands and Swartland wedding venues

Kalmoesfontein, Paardeberg

Kalmoesfontein is made for couples who value personality, good food, great wine and a proper celebration. The rustic AA Badenhorst family farm can host intimate weddings or celebrations of up to 150 guests, with cottages, ceremony options, a generous back stoep and space to dance beneath the stars.

MolenVliet Vineyards, Stellenbosch

MolenVliet offers polished Winelands luxury with mountain views, vineyards, an open courtyard, a generous reception venue and accommodation on the estate. It works particularly well for larger celebrations, multi-day destination weddings and couples who want a refined setting that can still be transformed to reflect their personality.

Johannesdal 1207, Stellenbosch

Tucked beneath the mountains near Stellenbosch, Johannesdal feels private, contemporary and wonderfully connected to nature. Gardens, terraces and a light-filled hall allow the day to move easily between spaces. The venue accommodates up to 120 guests with a dance floor, with luxury accommodation for 18 people.

Bartholomeus Klip is a working farm and private nature reserve suited to intimate, weekend-long celebrations. The Sanctuary sits on an island in the estate’s lake and accommodates ceremonies of up to 120 guests, while the warm, spacious Feast Hall seats up to 180. It offers a memorable ceremony setting and a substantial indoor reception option.

La Cotte Farm, Franschhoek

La Cotte Farm feels private and rural while remaining close to Franschhoek village. The historic farm accommodates weddings of around 80 guests and can sleep more than 100 people across its rooms, cottages and private houses. Bakenhof, Wellington

Bakenhof offers expansive Winelands views, a glass chapel, indoor and outdoor areas and a reception venue suited to larger celebrations. Depending on the chosen area, spaces accommodate approximately 60 to 250 guests. On-site suites sleep 22 adults and four children, making the logistics easier for close family.

Strooidak Church, Paarl

Paarl’s historic Strooidak Church was completed in 1805 and remains one of South Africa’s oldest church buildings still in use. It offers couples a meaningful Cape Dutch ceremony setting in the heart of Paarl, although a separate venue will be needed for the reception.

The Forum Embassy Hill, Constantia

Embassy Hill combines the convenience of Cape Town with gardens, heritage architecture and the forested slopes of Constantia. Private residence weddings

A private home can become an incredibly personal wedding venue, particularly for a smaller guest list. It gives couples freedom to celebrate in a place with genuine family meaning, although catering, bathrooms, parking, weather protection, noise restrictions and event infrastructure need careful planning.

Breedekloof, Overberg and Garden Route venues

BOSJES, Breedekloof Valley

BOSJES is instantly recognisable for its sculptural chapel, glass walls and undulating white roof appearing to float above water. Mountains, gardens and on-site accommodation complete the destination experience. It suits intimate elopements and larger celebrations where architecture and landscape are equally important.

God’s Window, Swellendam

God’s Window is a private hideaway set on more than 100 hectares beneath the Langeberg Mountains. The property sleeps 14 and is best suited to intimate, carefully planned weddings surrounded by fynbos, forest and wide-open landscapes. It feels less like a conventional venue and more like a secluded wedding escape.

Die Woud, Caledon

Die Woud is a forest wedding venue surrounded by tall wattle trees and old oaks. Couples can marry in its open-air forest chapel before celebrating beneath a clear glass marquee. The venue hosts between 80 and 140 guests, with nearby accommodation for approximately 20 people.

Emily Moon River Lodge, Plettenberg Bay

Gota House at Forrester Estate, Zimbabwe

Gota House is a private architectural residence perched on granite above Gota Dam, surrounded by farmland, water and open Zimbabwean landscapes. It is not a conventional publicly bookable wedding venue, but it shows what is possible when a private destination and a meaningful family setting become part of the celebration.
