There is a quiet kind of magic at BOSJES. The mountains seem to hold everything close, the architecture creates an immediate sense of wonder, and the natural landscape gives every celebration room to breathe.

Ben and Grace’s Bosjes Farm wedding brought all of that magic together with something even more important: the people they love most.

They chose to celebrate surrounded by their closest loved ones, allowing the day to feel intimate, warm and completely personal. Winter light moved across the valley, the mountains stood quietly behind them, and every part of the celebration felt centred on genuine connection rather than performance.

A Bosjes Farm wedding beneath the mountains

BOSJES is situated in the Breedekloof Valley, surrounded by vineyards, orchards, fynbos and the Waaihoek and Slanghoek mountains. The historic working Boland farm is known for its award-winning architecture, peaceful gardens and distinctive chapel.

The chapel’s sculptural white roof appears to float above the water, creating one of the most recognisable wedding settings in South Africa. Yet BOSJES offers far more than a beautiful architectural backdrop. There is a stillness to the farm that gives people permission to slow down and be present.

For Ben and Grace, that atmosphere became part of the story. The winter light, mountain views and surrounding landscape created a beautiful sense of place without taking attention away from what mattered most: two people choosing one another and celebrating that decision with the people who know them best.

A celebration built around people

The strongest wedding photographs are rarely created by chasing a show.

They come from giving people the space to be themselves. They are found in the way someone reaches for a hand, the expression that appears before a word is spoken, the laughter between friends and the reactions of family members who understand exactly what the moment means.

Ben and Grace’s wedding was filled with that kind of connection.

Their celebration was not only about what everything looked like. It was about how it felt to gather their closest loved ones together beneath the mountains. That feeling is what I always want a wedding gallery to preserve.

Years from now, the photographs should bring back more than the flowers, dress or venue. They should bring back the voices, personalities, warmth and energy of the people who were there.

Documentary wedding photography with an editorial eye

My approach as a Cape Winelands wedding photographer is built around honest observation.

I want couples to experience their wedding instead of constantly being removed from it for photographs. The real story is already happening between the planned moments, and those unscripted interactions often become the photographs that carry the most meaning.

That does not mean giving up on beautiful portraits.

BOSJES offers remarkable opportunities for artistic and editorial wedding photography. Its modern architecture, reflective water, landscaped gardens and surrounding mountains allow portraits to feel bold and considered without becoming disconnected from the day.

For Ben and Grace, the aim was to create a gallery that held both sides together: carefully composed portraits that honour the beauty of BOSJES, and documentary photographs that preserve the relationships, reactions and fleeting moments around them.

Beautiful portraits matter. The people inside the story matter even more.

Details that felt true to Ben and Grace

Every element of the celebration was brought together by a team that understood the importance of creating something personal.

Veil Events coordinated the day, allowing Ben, Grace and their guests to remain present while the celebration unfolded around them.

OKASIE brought the flowers and furniture together with their distinctive creative eye, complementing the natural landscape and architecture of BOSJES. Grace wore a dress by Vow’d Weddings, with makeup and hair by AMÉ Skin, Makeup & Hair.

In and Out Events created the lighting, while Johnniel Music took care of the sound. The stationery was created by Amor Create, carrying the visual story through the smaller details of the day.

It takes an enormous amount of care to create a wedding that feels effortless. This team gave it their all, not only to make the day look beautiful, but to make it memorable for Ben, Grace and every person who celebrated beside them.
